西汉帝陵

　　金日磾，字翁叔，是匈奴休屠王的太子。元狩二年(前121年)，霍去病率铁骑击匈奴，获祁连山大捷。当时金日磾14岁，同其母亲、弟弟被俘虏。到长安后，他被送进皇帝禁苑养马。他非常恪尽职守，养马出色。武帝认为日磾笃厚有才能，赐给衣冠，拜为马监。后升侍中，管理皇帝衣物、乘舆。历久无过错，晋升驸马都尉，光禄大夫，侍奉左右，武帝对他信赖有加。
　　有一次，武帝居住在甘泉宫避暑，有一个叫莽何罗的兄弟三人欲谋杀武帝，被金日磾发觉，箭步上去，抱住何罗，呼喊厮打，皇帝左右侍从闻声赶来，将其擒拿，使武帝脱险得救，由此可见日磾的忠诚。
　　后元二年(前87年)二月，武帝病重，将幼主托付给霍光等四位勋臣，日磾是其中之一，遗诏封日磾为侯。至日磾逝世，于茂陵东侧陪葬。
　　金日磾墓，在兴平市南位镇道常村西北，霍去病墓东侧约100米处。形状圆形，高为11.93米，东宽41.2米，西宽41.9米，南长35.5米，北长36.3米，占地面积1479.08平方米，封土体积18748立方米。
　　E Tomb of Jin Midi,Crown Prince of the Hun King but Loyal Officer of the Han
　　Jin Midi was the crown prince of the Hun king.In 2nd year(121 B.C.)under the reign title of Yuanshuo(128-123 B.C.),Huo Qubing led his cavalrymen on expedition out to launch attacks on the Hun invaders and achieved brilliant victoty at Mt.Qilian.Jin Midi by then was fourteen.He was captured together with his mother and younger brother.Having been brought to Chang'an,he was taken to a horse farm,where he bred horses for the emperor.Dedicated to duty,he performed his job quite well.Emperor Wudi considered him as a man of loyalty and talent and conferred him the title of Horse Manager,later the post of Close Servant taking care of emperor's clothing and carriage.His promotion to posts of Chief Horse Manager and Councilor attributed to no records of mistakes on his part.,which showed deep belief in him by the emperor.
　　Once,three assassins attempted an assassination to the emperor,who was staying at the Ganquan Resort Palace to escape summer heat.Jin Midi discovered the imminent danger,he rushed up to grapple with them and finally caught them alive.His loyalty to the emperor was fully expressed.
　　In February of 2nd year(87 B.C.) under the reign title of Houyuan(88-87 B.C.),Emperor Wudi was taken ill seriously.He entrusted the crown prince of young age with the four councilors of notable achievements,including Huo Guang and Jin Midi.In the testament of the dying emperor,Jin Midi was conferred the title of Marquis.Jin Midi was buried to the east side of the Maoling Mausoleum.
　　The Tomb of Jin Midi lies 100m away to the east side of the Tomb of Huo Qubing.The tomb takes round shape.It stands 11.93m high,extending width of 41.2m east,width of 41.9m west,length of 35.5m south and length of 36.3m north.The grave mound takes 18748 cubic meters of rammed earth over an area of 1479.08 square meters.
